ABOUT “THE CHAPEL” SALZBURG

In 2007 Pastor Ivan Ibbotson was reading a prayer request in the Calvary Chapel Magazine submitted by someone requesting prayer that the Lord would start a work in Salzburg.

Pastor Ivan was excited to discover that other people were also eager to see how the Lord could transform lives in Salzburg, (the city he grew up in). Although he himself had moved on, (having settled and started a family in Seattle, Washington); more and more the Lord was placing in him a desire to reach the lost in Salzburg.

Throughout the next year Pastor Ivan continually felt the Holy Spirit urging him; confirming to him that he was to pack up the family and move back to Austria. With many obstacles to overcome, prayer and answered prayers were confirming touches that God was leading and guiding and that He wanted to do something great in the City of Salzburg.

In September of 2008 “The Chapel” in Salzburg began it’s journey with a handful of people meeting for a midweek Bible study and within months God opened the doors for us to have our first Sunday morning service. We have seen lives surrendered to Christ, people overcome depression, people search and find their direction and calling in Christ.

We have been moving forward steadily ever since and have seen the mighty hand of God move greatly. We realize more than ever that it is not about big numbers, but rather lives that are changed from the inside out. Today many churches try to come up with a strategy and formula or try to incorporate what’s working well in other churches. We have seen God use the most unlikely people in the most unconventional ways for the purpose of furthering His kingdom for His names sake.

Our greatest desire is to abide in the Vine and allow Him to lead us by the Holy Spirit.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4)
