Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is part of our worship. As a believer our goals should not be to gain personal wealth or possessions, but to be responsible with what God has given us, and in doing so model Jesus to our brothers, sisters, and community.

All we have is God’s to begin with, if we have riches it’s because of Him. God does not need our money, but it is a test of our faith in seeing what we put our trust in.

Matthew 6:21 says “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

We serve God in worship by cheerfully giving God our first fruits.

Proverbs 3:9 “Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce.”

God wants our best and He deserves it after all He has done for us yet so often He gets our ‘leftovers’.

Proverbs 11:4 “Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.”

God’s word is clear when it comes to tithing and I would encourage you to pray as to how you can worship the Lord in this way.
